As I'm sat down with mermaid blanket on and my coffee in my hand I wanted to tell you all why I needed to take a break from social media, even if it was only for a few days.

For a while now, social media has played a big part in my personal and blogging life. It's a way to keep in touch with friends and family and to connect with fellow bloggers. But what I've realised lately is that I need to start focussing on the importance of personal interaction and giving myself time to switch of from technology.

The reality is we are all guilty of using social media platforms, it's a part of our life and we can find ourselves endlessly scrolling through Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, sometimes without reason it's just because it's there. But does it make me feel any better about myself,  the answer is NO.

My Fiancé and I both have our phones on us ALL the time but I want things to change. I don't want to give up social media at all but I set myself to have two days away from it all, it may not seem like a lot of time but I felt like it gave me the chance to reflect. I found having time away from social media helped the way I feel and my mood, without constant steams of pictures, tags and Instagram posts I become less self-conscious about my life or what people may be thinking of me. I always feel like there is an underlying pressure to have the perfect life online when we all know that for intact this is not the case. Before taking a break I felt that I was comparing myself to so many other bloggers when intact I just need to be ME.

Soon I discovered that I didn't even really care enough to check on what everybody else was doing because I was busy being productive myself, sorting out bits for the Wedding, cleaning the house and spending time with family and friends. It was like a breath of fresh air, a reminder that I spend so much of my time on social media. It's made me realise that it's ok to unplug more often and take time to enjoy the world around me, it's a beautiful place.
